We started growing indoor in basements and barns in 2008, when craft cannabis was still illegal in Michigan. We opened the Green Mitten Pharms farm in 2018, and that farm still feeds both our stores today. Our family runs the counter, our family runs the grow, and the Sunrise Coast is where we built it.

Our Story

Local, Craft, Legacy.

In 2008, two college roommates started growing indoor in basements and barns. They opened Green Mitten Pharms in 2018 and refused to sell anything they couldn't stand behind. When Michigan opened adult-use cannabis retail, they brought that same standard to the counter: HW-61 Standish opened in 2023, HW-23 Au Gres opened in 2026. They still run both stores, and you can still find them behind the counter on any given Saturday.

Do I need a medical card to shop at Highway Dispos?

No. Both Highway Dispos stores are licensed adult-use retailers. You must be 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID. We do not require a medical card.

What is the fastest way to order for pickup?

Order online through our menu, choose your store, and we will have it ready in 15 minutes or less. In Standish, pull up to the drive-through window at the north side of the building. In Au Gres, walk in and head to the express pickup counter.

I am driving up I-75, do I have to stop at a rest stop to buy cannabis?

No. Highway Dispos Standish is 60 seconds off I-75 at Exit 190, open every day from 9am to 9pm. You do not need a medical card, and Michigan adult-use cannabis is legal for anyone 21 or older with a valid ID. Please do not open or use cannabis in your vehicle.

Does Highway Dispos have senior-friendly products?

Yes. Our Sunrise Coast Relief line is built around low-dose edibles (2.5mg to 5mg), topicals, tinctures, and sleep gummies. Our budtenders are trained to help first-time and senior customers choose the right product for sleep, arthritis pain, or relaxation, without overwhelming vocabulary.
