Lake Huron, right outside our door.

Au Gres sits where US-23 meets Saginaw Bay and the open water of Lake Huron. Summer fishing charters, winter ice-out weekends, fall color drives along M-65 and M-70. Our store is 4 minutes from the public boat launch and 7 minutes from the state park campground. Stop in on your way to or from the water.

  1. Order online or walk in.
  2. Show valid ID at the counter, 21 or older.
  3. We pack it discreetly for the drive or the boat ride home.
  4. Please do not open or use in your vehicle. Michigan law treats open containers like alcohol.

Directions

Getting here.

From Tawas or East Tawas.

US-23 south approximately 20 minutes. We are on the west side of US-23 in downtown Au Gres, look for the green Highway 23 shield sign on the right as you come south.

From Bay City.

US-23 north approximately 45 minutes along the Lake Huron coast. Past Standish, through Omer, and into Au Gres. We are on the east side of US-23 coming north, on the left as you enter downtown.

From our Standish store.

M-23 east approximately 15 minutes, or M-61 east through Omer then US-23 north. Two different routes depending on the season and the Saginaw Bay winds. If the M-61 route is slow with tourism traffic, take the coast.

Seasonal flow

Four seasons on the Sunrise Coast.

Summer.

Boat launches busy from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Beach communities at Pointe Aux Barques, Caseville, and Lexington fill up on weekends. We see a lot of pickup orders from people stopping on the way to the cottage. Our store is on the way for most of the Saginaw Bay east shore.

Fall.

Color season runs late September through mid-October. M-25 along the coast is one of the best drives in the state for it. Steelhead show up in the Au Sable and the rivers around Oscoda. We get a lot of fishing-trip pickups in this window. Open the same hours every day, including weekends.

Winter.

Ice fishing on Saginaw Bay typically opens by late December if the weather cooperates. Snowmobile trails through the AuSable State Forest cross M-65 just inland from us. We stay open 9am to 9pm in the winter, and the lot is plowed.

Spring.

Steelhead run on the Au Sable and Rifle. Smelt dipping returns to the coast. The campgrounds reopen in late April. Quiet at the store mid-week, busy on weekends. A good time to come in for an unhurried conversation with a budtender.

From the greenhouse

What we grow at Green Mitten Pharms.

The flower behind our Au Gres counter comes from the same Michigan farm that supplies our Standish store. Green Mitten Pharms is our family cultivation, opened 2018 after a decade of growing indoor in basements and barns. We grow small batches, hand-trim, hand-cure, and we keep the menu deliberately tight rather than padding it with whatever moves cheap. The Sunrise Coast Relief line for senior customers is built on the same standard, just dosed for a different visit.

Au Gres skews older than the statewide average, and our Sunrise Coast Relief line was built with that in mind. Low-dose edibles (2.5mg to 5mg), topicals, tinctures, sleep gummies. Ask any budtender for the Relief shelf, and we will walk you through what works.
