Two college roommates, growing indoor in basements and barns since 2008. The Green Mitten Pharms farm opened in 2018. Two storefronts now, both still ours.
It started indoor in basements and barns in 2008.
The two of us were college roommates who kept finding ourselves back in Northern Michigan. Not for a weekend. For good. We grew up here, worked summers here, and we started growing indoor in basements and barns in 2008, when craft cannabis in Michigan was still illegal. Indoor was a choice and a constraint at the same time: Michigan summers are humid, and outdoor flower paid the price for it. We did not.
In 2018 we opened the Green Mitten Pharms farm. Same hands, same standard, with room to scale and a Michigan license number on the door. We named the grow Green Mitten Pharms because Michigan looks like a mitten and we are not trying to be anyone else's brand.
When Michigan opened its adult-use cannabis market, we knew where we wanted to plant the flag: right at the I-75 exit that every up-north weekend drives through. In 2023 we opened our first retail store on M-61 just off Exit 190, ten minutes from Saganing Eagles Landing Casino. In 2026 we opened the second store on US-23 along the Lake Huron coast, and we unified both under one brand: Highway Dispos.
Same family. Same flower. Same standard from the grow to the counter. You can find us behind that counter on any given Saturday. If you ask our budtender a question we cannot answer, we will get on the phone with our grower and find out. Most days, that is us.

Craft.
Small-batch flower, hand-trimmed, hand-cured. We do not chase yield, we chase a jar you want to come back for. If a batch does not meet our standard, it does not reach the counter.

Legacy.
Family-grown since 2008. Family-owned today. We are building this for our kids to inherit, not for a venture firm to flip. That changes every decision we make.
Green Mitten Pharms
Grown by us.
Green Mitten Pharms is our cultivation brand. It is not a partner and it is not a placeholder. When a product on our shelf has the Green Mitten badge, it came from our Michigan greenhouse, grown by a team we know by name.
We grow flower the way a small vineyard makes wine. Small plots. Slow cures. Strain selection based on what we want to sell our own neighbors, not what spreadsheets say will move fastest.
If that sounds old-fashioned, that is because it is.
Community
We live here. We work here. We invest here.
We are one of the largest private-sector employers in Arenac County. We sponsor the Standish-Sterling varsity teams. We buy our office supplies from the stationers on Grove Street. We eat lunch at the diner that has been there since before the casino. We shovel the elderly neighbor's driveway in January because that is how you live in a small town in Northern Michigan.
You do not earn a community's trust by accident. You earn it by showing up. At the greenhouse. At the counter. At the high-school football game on Friday night.

When did Highway Dispos open?
Green Mitten Pharms, our in-house cultivation, started in 2008. Our first retail store, HW-61 on M-61 in Standish, opened in 2023 under Michigan's adult-use program. Our second retail store, HW-23 on US-23 in Au Gres, opened in 2026. The same year, we unified both stores under one brand: Highway Dispos.
